Walnut Lawn Crematory
Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. was founded in 1989 by the DeGraffenreid and Wood families. It was founded on the principles of providing high quality and respectful funeral services through "Tender Moments - Tender Care" through "Our Families Serving Your Family." The Wood family previously owned Wood Funeral Home in Hartville, Missouri, prior to moving to Springfield to establish Walnut Lawn Funeral Home. In 1991, the Wood family purchased the DeGraffenreid family interest in the funeral home. In 2013, the Wood family added a crematory on-site to allow us to better serve our families, taking direct care of their loved ones.

In 2014, Bobby Wood celebrated 50 years as a licensed embalmer and funeral director. He has been married to his wife Ruth for over 50 years; Ruth has been instrumental in the daily operations of the funeral business. They continue to work daily in the funeral business that they established together. Their daughter, Dr. Ruth Ann Wood-Humiston, has joined them as a second generation funeral director and preneed counselor, in managing the funeral home today.
